The Sarasota ecclesia announces the falling asleep in Christ of Sister Ruth Buckheit, age 98.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints, Psalm 116:15. Our sister Ruth endured a great many trials in her later years, and now rests from her tribulations, awaiting the great day when she and all those in have fallen asleep in Christ Jesus shall arise in the day of Resurrection.
Sister Ruth was baptized into Christ on August 31, 1939, the very eve of the outbreak of World War Two in Europe. That war would drive the Jewish people to seek a homeland. They would have it in 1948. Sister Ruth was twenty- six then. Over the next seven decades our sister would see further proof of God’s prophecies being worked out, including the capture of East Jerusalem by the Israelis in 1967. Ruth lived long enough to see Jerusalem recognized as the capital of Israel by the President of the United States.
These things excited Ruth and we are confident that her faith kept her secure while she endured her final battles.
It should not be long now until we are together with our sister and all our loved ones who have fallen asleep in Christ Jesus. We take great comfort from the words of the Apostle Paul who wrote: “Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him.”
