In the June 2020 issue of the Tidings magazine, we announced the appointment of Bro. Dave Jennings as the new Editor of the magazine. Five and a half years have now flown by. Dave made the decision earlier in 2025 that it would be his last year as Editor, and so we saw the retirement of Dave this past December. I speak for all on the committee, as well as our readers, that we all hoped he would have continued longer.

Dave accomplished a great deal in that brief time. He was able to rapidly accelerate Tidings’ internet presence by driving our social media presence via Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter), and enhancing our website, tidings.org, with the help of Bro. Jeff Gelineau from the committee, as well as Bro. Jason and Sis. Sylvia Grant’s company, Fifth and Missing Design Group (fifthandmissing.com). To put this into perspective, as Dave came on board, we were pressed to see 3,000 unique viewers of Tidings’ content within a month. Today, we see upwards of 30,000 accessing Tidings’ articles each month.

Dave also started some important Tidings programs for the benefit of the community. The first is EcclesiaSafe, (tidings.ecclesiasafe.org) designed to help ecclesias and individuals access resources and tools in dealing with very sensitive, delicate and serious issues, such as child and spousal abuse. These are topics we don’t want to discuss, and we may even be in denial that such things can happen in Christadelphia. But they do, and ecclesias have been woefully ill-equipped to handle such situations. We plan to cover additional topics under the banner of EcclesiaSafe.

As a side note, we are actively looking for a brother or sister to help coordinate this program going forward. If you are looking for a way to contribute to our community, this is one area that needs your help.

Toward the end of 2023, Dave initiated a second major project. He noted that the vast majority of Christadelphian content is written in English, catering specifically to our historically western ecclesial community. However, the majority of Christadelphians today are no longer English speakers, due to the powerful hand of God in our worldwide community. Dave piloted a flipbook magazine in Farsi, available for free to our growing number of Farsi readers. After establishing viability, Dave approached The Christadelphian and Glad Tidings magazines to see if they would collaborate on a new digital publication. Their enthusiastic response, as well as the Bible Mission groups, led to the creation of a monthly magazine, called The High Calling.

The High Calling magazine provides content from all three magazines. Today, the magazine is published in English, French, Farsi, Swahili, Dutch, Tagalog, Spanish, Urdu, and Chichewa. The magazine’s popularity demonstrates a global hunger for more spiritual content in the native languages of our brothers and sisters. This encouraging partnership also sends a message about how much more we can accomplish when we work together as one body. The Bible Missions have all partnered with us and contributed to the work, and some individuals have made generous personal donations. If you know someone who speaks one of those languages, we encourage you to share the link with them (thehighcalling.net).

Dave has built an outstanding editorial team of brothers and sisters, some working on the proofreading and editing and others as section editors who both write articles and solicit writers on a variety of topics such as, “Life Application,” “Bible Study,” “First Principles,” “Music and Praise,’” “Teaching and Preaching,” and “Mothers in Israel.”

While Dave may have retired as Editor, I am pleased to report that he has agreed to take a position on the Tidings Committee. His willingness to serve in this capacity is much appreciated.

So then, what of a new Editor and looking forward to 2026, should our Lord remain away? The Tidings Committee is pleased to announce a new model for the Editor role. We have appointed three brethren to take on the role of Editor in the following ways:

Bro. Jason Hensley of the Simi Hills, CA Ecclesia, has agreed to serve as the Editor of the Tidings magazine. Jason is the current principal at the Christadelphian Heritage School in California and teaches Biblical Hebrew, Biblical Greek, Apologetics, and Biblical Studies and has authored 13 books on Biblical subjects. He has traveled around the world to teach at various ecclesias and Bible Schools. Additionally, he lectures and teaches about the Bible and history at universities throughout the United States. Jason is also actively involved with Bible Unlocked (bibleunlocked.com), Good Christadelphian Talks Podcast (goodchristadelphiantalks.com), and Magnify Him Together (magnifyhimtogether.com).

Bro. Shawn Moynihan of the Cambridge, ON Ecclesia, who has done an outstanding job overseeing Tidings’ Books for a few years now, will add to his responsibilities as the Editor of Tidings’ Social Media content and presence. Shawn is also the chairman of Christadelphian Meal-a-Day of the Americas (cmadfa.com). Recently, he helped establish the Christadelphian Secondary School (grades 9-12) in Ontario, where he teaches and serves as principal of the new school. He was a teacher (grades K-12), a principal, and a superintendent in two public school districts in Ontario, spanning a 34-year career.

Brother Jim Sullivan of the Stoughton (Boston), MA Ecclesia has enthusiastically agreed to become the Editor of The High Calling magazine. Jim is no stranger to Tidings, having been partly introduced to the Faith through a Tidings offered VHS video series called “Christadelphian Apology” in 1989, and now, some 36 years later, having authored several articles for the Tidings. Jim is well known for his service over many years of exhorting throughout the New England Ecclesias and for his 25 years of service, many of them as chairman, on the Committee for the Eastern Bible School in North America. When we reached out to Jim to join the editorial team, he expressed an immediate passion for The High Calling magazine and zealously agreed to take on this role.

While these brethren have their specific areas of focus, they will meet and collaborate regularly on content, initiatives, and direction. Each brings the most valuable quality of all to their roles, that of the love for God and our Lord Jesus Christ and for all of Christ’s brethren worldwide. Please give our new editors your full support with ideas, comments, words of encouragement and content submissions.

We are not really sure how Dave managed all these roles himself, but we are indebted to him for all he has contributed, not just to the Tidings but to the worldwide community. Many of you have told me how much you have enjoyed Dave’s editorials and the overall direction of the Tidings.

I also want to thank each of the spouses of these brethren for their support of the work of their husbands. Firstly, Sis. Mary Kay Jennings for her continued support of Dave over the past several years. The Tidings Committee thanks you for sharing Dave with us. We further thank Sisters Ruth Hensley, Cathie Moynihan, and Cindy Sullivan for now standing beside their husbands in the Editor roles they have taken on with the Tidings. All these sisters contribute in ways unseen by most, but their support and counsel greatly contribute to the work these brethren have undertaken, and we are all better off and are profoundly grateful for it.

Chairman
On behalf of the Tidings Committee
