Bible Weekend in Greece
A small ecclesia in Greece is strengthened through a weekend of Greek-language Bible study, fellowship, and encouragement from brothers and sisters abroad.

In March 2025, the small Christadelphian ecclesia in Greece welcomed a group of brothers and sisters from Australia, Canada, and the UK to share a weekend of fellowship and Bible study.
The Greek ecclesia is made up of several members of the Stenos family. Most members reside in Larissa, the regional capital of Thessaly in central Greece, which was the host city for the weekend. As always, we were received with warmth and hospitality by our Greek brothers and sisters in Christ.
Over the weekend, our studies—led by Bro. Con Mitsos (Woodville, South Australia)—centered on the Apostle John, “the son of thunder,” and his example of discipleship. We also had two classes on “Greece in Bible Prophecy,” led by Bro. Steve Petrou (Toronto West, Canada). These were live-streamed to contacts we had made via our Greek-language website. They were also recorded as a future preaching resource.
A feature of this exciting Bible Weekend was that all our studies and talks were conducted in Greek, as brothers Con and Steve are both of Greek heritage. Bro. Steven Murie, who is from Australia but now lives in Greece, provided simultaneous translation into English for non-Greek speakers. This setup made the talks very personal and relevant to our Greek brothers and sisters. It was also inspiring to learn together in the language of the apostles (or its modern-day equivalent)!
Our time together also included a visit to the nearby Byzantine-era Platamon Castle, and a walk along the Pineios River, providing further time for fellowship and discussion about our shared faith. On the last day of the school, a member of the Larissa Jewish Community shared a fascinating presentation on the history of the Jews in Larissa from Roman times until the present, including the capture of Jews during the Second World War and their relocation to German concentration camps.
The short time we spent together over the weekend encouraged all of us in our faith. We pray that it also helped show our brothers and sisters in Greece that, although their ecclesia is small, they are part of a worldwide family of believers who share their commitment to follow Jesus and look forward to his return. We hope to hold another Bible School in Greece in the first half of 2027, and possibly a 25+ Summer Bible Week on the island of Skopelos. We would love international visitors. Please contact Bro.
